Ride or Stride raises close to $18,000

A big thank-you to everyone who participated in this year’s Ride or Stride for Bleeding Disorders on Oct. 1, 2011. Almost $18,000 was raised, and these funds will help HACA provide educational materials, support groups, financial assistance, educational scholarships and summer camp programs for young people, and will help support research for a cure.

The event took place on a very chilly and rainy Saturday morning, and despite the deteriorating conditions, we had a great turnout. There were some chattering teeth and blue lips after the riders and walkers came in from the rain, but everyone was a good sport and enjoyed the food, music and camaraderie.

A special thanks to this year’s sponsors: Baxter, Bayer, Factor Support Network, Grifols, Novo Nordisk and Pfizer. We also received generous in-kind donations from Whole Foods, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Great American Restaurants, Uncle Julio’s Restaurants, Susie’s Cookies, Road ID, and Gabro Printing and Graphics.

We would also like to thank our volunteers who generously gave up their Saturday morning to do everything from welcoming our participants at the registration table to manning the water stops along the W&OD, from setting up supplies to grilling hot dogs. We couldn’t have done it without all of your help!
